This time I'm going to try something new and different. I'm going to try to write this whole thing in English. I want to improve my English skills and get rid of Finnish for a while. I don't know if I'm going to continue writing in English but I also want my American friends and family to understand my blog better! I hope you all in Finland can understand it too!
Today I'm going to tell you about my trip to Minnesota last weekend. Saturday morning we drove to Minneapolis with my rye officer, her husband and their son. It takes about 4 hours to get there from Shawano and it actually felt like a pretty long drive because we stopped in Eau Claire and we met their other son there. We had lunch together and then we drove to Minneapolis. At first we went to our hotel and we left all of our stuff there. Then we got ready and left to St. Paul. We went to watch Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship in St. Paul. We went there by metro which took probably over 30 minutes :D I think it was pretty cool to experience American public transport because we don't have that in Shawano...
These pictures are from Crashed Ice World Championship. Honestly I don't even know how to call it, I have no idea what that thing that they were doing there is in English :D But hopefully you can understand it by looking at those pictures!
So, we went there and I didn't expect that there would be so many people. There were THOUSANDS of people and it was a very big event. We watched that thing for a while and then we went to eat to the downtown. There were block party and DJ. People were dancing, drinking and having fun. After we were done with eating, we went back to the race. At this point I felt like there were even more people than earlier. We watched it till the end and then we headed back to the hotel. This time we went there by bus. I was very tired so I just took a shower and went to bed.
On Sunday morning I woke up after 9am which made me very confused because I usually don't sleep that late. We got ready and went to Ikea to have breakfast. I also bought some Swedish candy which made me almost feel like I was home... Then we went to Mall of America. We didn't have very much time so we were there only for an hour. After Mall of America we drove to Stillwater, Minnesota to see ice castles. I think they were really cool and it was totally worth it to go there on our way back to Shawano. We also had lunch in Stillwater and then we headed back home. I had a great weekend with my ryeo and her family and I'm thankful that I got to go to Minnesota again!
